The cricket club was formed in 2001, with a view to organising friendly local matches on Sundays in the Sportsfield. By early 2002 there were 45 members aged 16 to 70. |
| The club tendered for, and won, the contract to cut the sportsfield grass. A grant of £1000 was awarded for a cricket net, and £666 for equipment, by Awards For All (National Lottery). West Wilts District Council also awarded the club £250. | ![]() Ben trying out the new nets |

James Carter
We remember with gratitude and affection our friend James Carter, who died on 7th April 2006. He worked tirelessly to rebuild this club, and he was a devoted treasurer, umpire, groundsman and spectator. He will be greatly missed.

All tickets were sold out and the village hall was full for a talk given by Gen. Nick Parker in aid of the Cricket Club on 21st April 2006. Following his recent 6 month experience as the Deputy to the American Corps Commander in Baghdad, Nick was able to give a fascinating personal insight into the security problems now facing the country and prospects for the future. His talk and questions was preceded and followed by an opportunity to sample wines kindly provided by Simon Leschallas. Overall we raised about £700 for the club which will be used to fund the club's contribution to a new shed on the sportsfield and also, possibly, towards the purchase of a farm quad bike for cutting the sportsfield grass. Altogether the evening was voted a great success and, if we can identify other equally knowledgable and able speakers, may provide a format for talks on other subjects in the future. |
